Halloween is Fun
Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »Most of the advice about Halloween safety for kids concerns trick-or-treating.
First, know what your children are planning to do! If they’re going to a party at a friends house, talk to the parents to be sure you know who all is going, what the party plans are, who (if anyone) will be supervising, and what time to expect your kids to return back home. If your children are planning to go trick-or-treating, you should to sit down with them and plan what route they will take for safety’s sake..
Trick-or treating advice:
- Avoid low-lit streets and dark parks; always travel in a group; carry a flashlight & try and wear some reflective clothing so cars can see you.
- Do NOT enter a strange house or car.
- Talk to your kid about their Halloween costume. Ensure the costume is comfortable to walk in, provides warmth, and is safe to wear. Shoes need to be comfortable too.
Lastly, let your children know what YOU expect for the time they are out. Warn them against any vandalism, any animal cruelty and drug and alcohol use. Providing your kid with a cell phone to use in case of an emergency is a good idea as well.
Halloween Safety for Adults for Halloween Costume Parties
For Halloween costume party hosts, be sure that you have provided plenty of good and drinks for your party guests.
Be aware of any allergies ( like peanuts) or dietary ( make a vegetable platter) restrictions, and take the steps so that everyone has something fun and good to munch or drink.
It’s a good idea to put your pets in a separate room as far away from the noise of your party.
Remove and put away any fragile items. Halloween costume parties can get pretty rowdy very quickly and you dont want anything of yours to be knocked over or stepped on.
If you are a guest, be respectful of your hosts furniture, pets, and everything else.
And last, but not least – be careful how alcohol you drink. No one wants to be remembered as the “drunken idiot” who danced the fox trot on the dining room table at the neighborhood Halloween costume party!
Now go have some fun!
